Have you ever wished you could make a copy of what you see on your screen? A screen capture does the trick. It’s similar to taking a photograph of what’s on your screen.
How to make a screen shot on a PC
To capture the screen, hold down the Control key and the Prt Scr key at the same time. The first is located to the left of your space bar and the second is usually at the top right of your keyboard, above “Insert”.
You can’t see the image you just copied, but it’s in the virtual memory of your computer, waiting for you to paste it somewhere else.
Open an image processing software (like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) and select File/New. Then Copy/Paste.
Or open a Word document, insert your cursor as if you’re about to start writing, then select Edit/Paste.
In some email programs, you can paste the image into the message section. Start a new email, put your cursor in the body, and type Control (Ctrl) and C at the same time.
How to make a screen shot on a MAC
Press Command (⌘), Shift and 4 at the same time.
Move the crosshair pointer to where you want to start the screenshot.
Drag to select an area.
When you’ve selected the area you want, release your mouse or trackpad button.
Find the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop.
How to make a screen shot on an iPad/iPhone
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of youriPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then immediately press and release the Home button. You can find the screenshot in your Photos app. You can forward it by email.
