Many people already have a site but for one reason or another are looking for a new designer or developer to take over.
If you have an existing website and want to give it a more contemporary look, we’ll be happy to see how it can be updated. Website designs can get dated quite quickly. Sometimes you just need a few things, like a new banner at the top, wider pages, a larger font, etc. We’ll let you know if just a few cosmetic changes will help. We’ll see if any of the old files – especially images – can be recycled to save you money.
We’ll also check to see how many back links or referring sites you have, and assess your position with search engines. This will give you useful information for improving the performance of your site.
We’ll take a look at your host to make sure you’re not paying too much, and that your hosting is secure. That is, we’ll check your “IP neighbours” to ensure you’re not sharing a server with adult sites that can get your site banned.
If you have a former designer and would like us to take over your site, we do prefer you to clear it with the previous developer before we start work, so there are no hurt feelings or legal issues.
If you have an existing website and would like it updated, we will need the username and password to the FTP as well as any other logins. To some degree we can assess the technologies used to build the site without the passwords, but in most cases you’ll need to find out what they are or obtain them from the previous developer if you don’t have them.
